Following a trend away from large-scale outsourcing, Energy Australia selected NetStar for the ongoing design and operations of their data network. Linking over 35 key sites around the state, Energy Australia’s data network supports the administration infrastructure and SCADA based connectivity.
The contract for managing Energy Australia's LAN and WAN, including 32 sites and 200 devices, was based on the ability to provide network connectivity and bandwidth to effectively support Energy Australia’s business systems and processes in a rapidly changing environment. NetStar’s NetManage service demonstrated the best ability to meet these requirements, and was combined with a consultative approach to the transition and ongoing support of Energy Australia's network.
Since the original contract was awarded, NetStar’s NetManage service has provided significant benefits to Energy Australia in supporting and managing their IT infrastructure, and NetStar has worked closely with the customer on a number of IT initiatives.
NetStar now provides Energy Australia with a maintenance and management solution for all IT infrastructure. NetStar monitors and manages over 300 devices across multiple technologies, including Cisco routers and switches, firewalls and Packeteer – using an integrated management platform. Through nVisage, NetStar’s Web-based application, both Energy Australia and NetStar’s engineers can view reports and real-time statistics for any device, schedule an outage or look at the status of their network.
As Energy Australia’s network continues to change and adapt to business drivers, NetStar’s dynamic management platform will ensure they retain the most cost-effective support service.
